Final payment. The remaining balance of $3,700 USD is due no later than Tuesday, December 1, 2026. Failure to submit final payment by this deadline may result in cancellation of the participant's reservation at the discretion of Tenacious Medical Education.
Participant cancellation. Requests to cancel participation must be submitted in writing by email to Tenacious Medical Education. The effective date of cancellation is the date written notice is received.
- On or before December 1, 2026: the $500 registration deposit is non-refundable. The remaining amounts paid will be refunded, less a 25% administrative fee applied to amounts eligible for refund, to cover administrative costs, payment processing, planning expenses, and non-recoverable operational costs incurred on the participant's behalf.
- After December 1, 2026: no refunds will be issued, except where required by law or where Tenacious Medical Education, in its sole discretion, determines that extraordinary circumstances warrant an exception. Participants who withdraw after this deadline or fail to participate remain financially responsible for the full expedition fee.
- No-shows: participants who fail to appear without prior written cancellation are considered no-shows, and no refunds will be provided.
Because many expedition expenses, including permits, lodging, transportation, staffing, and payments to local partners, are committed well in advance of departure, late cancellations create substantial unrecoverable costs. Participants are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance that includes trip cancellation and interruption coverage.
Changes and transfers. Requests to transfer registration to another individual, defer participation to a future expedition, or make other registration changes may be considered case by case. Tenacious Medical Education is under no obligation to approve such requests, and approved changes may be subject to additional administrative fees and any costs imposed by local vendors.
Cancellation or modification by Tenacious Medical Education. Tenacious Medical Education reserves the right to modify, postpone, reroute, or cancel the expedition due to circumstances including participant safety concerns, severe weather, natural disasters, political instability, public health emergencies, government travel restrictions, park closures, civil unrest, insufficient enrollment, or other circumstances beyond its reasonable control. Should the expedition be canceled before departure, participants will receive a refund of registration fees paid, less any non-recoverable third-party expenses already incurred on the participant's behalf, if permitted under applicable law. Tenacious Medical Education is not responsible for expenses incurred independently by participants, including airfare, additional hotel reservations, passport or visa fees, travel insurance premiums, vaccinations, equipment purchases, personal travel arrangements, or airline change or cancellation fees.
Refund processing. Approved refunds will generally be processed within 30 days of approval using the original method of payment whenever reasonably possible. If payment processors or financial institutions do not return processing fees associated with the original transaction, Tenacious Medical Education reserves the right to deduct those unrecoverable processing costs from any otherwise eligible refund, where permitted by law.
Insurance and physical requirements. Travel and medical insurance covering helicopter evacuation and medical expenses up to 6,000 meters is required. Participants must also be able to meet the physical requirements published on the event page, including hiking 4 to 6 hours per day at altitude and at least 12 hours on summit day.
